Mine does. If you have an A/V receiver with stereo or surround speakers you really need to hook it up with the optical cable, otherwise you won't have 5.1 sound. You will need a seperate audio cable for the sound. it Might be Due to This Article Subwoofer Buzzes or Hums?

Update: Tried connecting the audio cables but didn't work. Tv has hdmi 2 input jack, component/composite video input jacks and analog audio l/r input jacks.?
