I'd tried everything else (PRAM resets, removing my Bluetooth.plist files etc). For most of this feature we're going to look at the wireless Magic Mouse, which is supplied with all new Apple Mac computers (unless you choose the Magic Trackpad instead). Normally, removing preference panes won't cause a problem, other than resetting the preferences to their default state. Magic Mouse 2 Not Discoverable Does my suspicion of what is going make any sense?

      Re-pairing it with macbook pro makes me conclude that there does not seem to be problems with (fresh) batteries, but something else is preventing it from pairing with ipad.
