I tried the solution suggested here https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/19770 but found that many of the commands didn't work and didn't know what I was doing: "sudo aptitude install subversion" i used the "apt-get" I have runned a driver update and can't I find a webcam in the device manager. If you have changed it to XP it is possible that the webcam drivers wont work anyway and you will have ... you may need to get a larger one to make it ...
