My att guy says it is not the uverse and is a computer problem or electrical in nature, but it doesn't happen when I'm not online. Some customers don't call and then the alarm tells them several days later that it can't communicate when it attempts to send a test signal. It's not dangerously hot, but it's hot. When i initially "added" the new wifi connection i added it as a WEP but there were other options. Usually a Standard Ethernet cable is used to connect the WAP to the Residential Gateway which leaves the device in close proximity to other electronic components that could be causing major I have had 5 techs to my house in the last week and a half, one of them an outside tech.
Make sure the Wireless Access Point and Wireless Receiver are not in an enclosed area. This is ridiculous! I read through all these forums and tried everything suggested and I still keep losing the signal, especially when watching recorded shows on the DVR. Repeat this process two more times.
