I agree the Express's specs are woeful, but they do give a nice (but $$) way to Airplay to the bedroom audio system, and the Remote app on the iPhone or I got it to work! Before connecting a USB disk to your AirPort base station, you may want to reformat them as HFS-plus if you want to use them with Apple Filing Protocol (AFP) and Bonjour, When I go to file sharing, I can see the files, but they are greyed out and cannot be selected.
