She didn't install any updates, and it's not showing as a driver issue- the WLAN network adapter is simply missing entirely from Device Manager and appears to not even be recognized For me it was Atheros driver 10.0.0.270 for AR5B95. Once you covered those bases, go Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager and check that the wireless adapter is present and not yellow flagged.
Also I tried reinstalling my OS, but that neither yielded any result.
